Hi Richard,

FYI, a fellow caravanner here in Kalbarri last week tried installing his new Satellite dish etc, it was his first time out and after three days and a fortune in mobile calls he couldn�t get it to tune and ended up throwing it into the boot in absolute disgust.

This set of equipment was out of Perth and I think a good $200 to $300 cheaper than the option from you, however the only training was on the guy�s driveway in Perth and a few felt tip markings here and there on the dish.

However with the VANSAT option after unpacking, assembly and reviewing the DVD all in all about an hour and then connecting/ adjusting which was about 20 minutes, a perfect result! Given this was from a standing start and was a totally new project it is clear that the quality of your instructions / equipment package is superior, particularly as we are at extreme points from each other across the country and I didn�t have to contact you once. I guess that then makes the couple hundred dollars difference obsolete?

Why Invest in a VANSAT System over the "Others" ?

1 - Ok, so the other packages look similar? Ask the sellers if the

dish scale has been calibrated to Australian standards. The majority of these dishes have the elevation set for Europe and the UK. (the requirement being that here in Australia you have to do math in your head for the elevation) If they answer that it's not a problem, ask them how it can not be when 1 degree accuracy is required? OUR DISHES ARE PRECISION ALIGNED FOR AUSTRALIA - NO THINKING NEEDED.

2 - Does their package come with an Installation and Setup DVD / VHS? We SHOW YOU how to align the dish, not give you some vague printed instructions.

3 - Do you have to "assemble" their kits? NOT WITH OURS ! Our Portable Satellite TV Kits are fully assembled and tested prior to dispatch. No additional assembly is required.

4- Do they provide you FREE Software Updates for any changes in the Satellite Services ? We Do !

5- Can they provide an optional

kit and full support for it?

6 - Ask them if their satellite location charts are in actual fact just a list of towns

that you pick the "closest one" too to align your dish. The most popular of these satellite lists contains errors that will prevent a system from working in all areas of Australia. Our package includes a TWO PAGE custom satellite chart based on the satellite manufacturer's datasheets to give you perfect accuracy no matter where you travel. You don't pick a "close reference" and hope for the best. We give you 100% Accuracy 100% of the Time.

7 - BEWARE OF PIRATES ! Seen a significantly cheaper system or been approached by people on newsgroups and forums with an "el-cheapo" system that contains a "special" smart card or worse still - no card at all? (to receive all the commercial channels simultaneously) The Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) prohibits reception of all four of the commercial channels at the same time. People selling and using these "pirate" cards risk huge fines and prosecution. Aardvark Electronics (VANSAT) is an OFFICIAL Optus Smart Card Distributor. (check this with our competition and it�s likely they will say they�re not!) Our kit contains this 100% legitimate OPTUS NO Monthly Fee / NO Annual Fee smart card.

Remember that these four commercial channels share the same major programs with the main difference being that Imparja and Seven Central are 2 hours ahead of the West Coast (GWN and Win). The satellite operator and broadcasters are aware of systems running with pirate cards and plans are underway to ensure that they will cease to function in the not to distant future. Not really worth the risk of a fine or an unusable system for a 2 hour time zone is it?

8 - You've seen a 35cm dish ? Great Portability - Great for the East Coast (just), want to use it reliably further West? Forget It ...

9 - You've seen a 64 cm dish? Better Portability - Good for "Most" Areas "Most" of the time - ask them for a "guarantee" for reception anywhere - the answer will likely be NO! 10 - Do they include a tripod? If so ask them how you affix the tripod to the ground. (you

don't want it blowing over in the wind) Do they answer that you drill holes in the legs or throw a peg over a stay bar? Our tripods look the same but are custom enhanced with stainless bases and affixing feet to allow secure attachment. Our included Stainless Steel pegs are the VERY BEST you have ever seen. You WILL NOT bend them when you hammer them into the ground.

The VANSAT Portable Satellite TV System began after a holiday I took with my family around Australia. We purchased an old Viscount caravan, set it up with a normal television antenna and off we went. Couldn't believe the poor/no reception we received in most places. So I started working on a portable satellite system that would be ideal for the rural and traveller markets. The VANSAT free to air satellite system is the result of 100's of hours work. It has been designed to provide you with free crystal clear television reception no matter where you go in Australia. The old television antenna days are limited. Our portable satellite tv kits will give you the best pictures you've ever got! What's more the channels are free to receive! No monthly fees. - HOME USE DETAILS -
The VANSAT system is designed for portable use but it will function in the same excellent fashion at your home. On the ordering page you can select to replace the tripod with a roof mount if you want to setup the system at a permanent location. There is no additional charge to do this and of course if you still wish to keep the tripod, the roof mount is available separately for $88.
